ip address 0.0.0.0 often seen in 404 log

As my site had been hacked a couple of years ago, I’m very security-conscious.
In Redirection’s 404 log, the ip address 0.0.0.0 often shows up as trying to access pages and other files on my site.
Why does 0.0.0.0 appear instead of an actual ip address? I need to know if this could pose a security threat.
