Could not Open Socket

My client is using Google Apps for their mail server. Before they switched from the Godaddy mail server they could get email alerts from Form Maker. Now nothing comes through so I’m trying to setup Postman SMTP server. Can you help me get this working?

Hi and thanks for using Postman!

A bizarre GoDaddy affectation is that they sometimes redirect all outbound traffic on port 25 to their own mail server, thus attempting to authenticate with Gmail credentials will always fail. I see this is the case for you.

I’m working on figuring out a way for Postman to detect this oddity. In the meantime, install the Postman Gmail Extension and FORCE the wizard to configure mail for googleapis.com:443, don’t let it configure smtp.gmail.com:25.

This is a horrible thing for GoDaddy to do. Lesser email clients may reveal your Google name and password to GoDaddy’s email server this way, it’s basically a man-in-the-middle attack.

Postman v1.6 now handles Google Apps accounts on GoDaddy without the Postman Gmail API Extension. Postman v1.6 also now looks for the case where GoDaddy is redirecting traffic and chooses a new configuration.
