Tumblr and count ?

You can add a custom link on the settings page. The URL to put in will be:

https://www.tumblr.com/widgets/share/tool?posttype=link&title=%5Btitle%5D&content=%5Bpage%5D&canonicalUrl=%5Bpage%5D&shareSource=tumblr_share_button

The reason we don’t include the counters is because that requires loading a lot of JavaScript which slows down the page load speed a lot. We don’t feel that showing counters is worth the performance hit on page load speed (especially for mobile). It’s this ridiculous loading of javascript that caused us to develop this plugin in the first place. For example, just putting in Tumblr’s share button code adds 41 network requests for an average total of 3.71 seconds added to page loading.

The Tumblr link doesn’t work for me. Also, how do you add the icon?

What does not work about the Tumblr link? Make sure you are putting the “Custom URL” as: https://www.tumblr.com/widgets/share/tool?posttype=link&title=%5Btitle%5D&content=%5Bpage%5D&canonicalUrl=%5Bpage%5D&shareSource=tumblr_share_button

To change the icon, click the “Select” button under the “Custom Icon” column in the settings screen.

All you need to do then is save you settings.

When I use the link you listed and then test it by clicking the icon I get the generic The Is Nothing To See Here message from Tumblr.

That seems odd. I just tested and it works fine for us. It would be helpful to us if you could send us a link of your website or a picture of your OSD Social Media Sharing settings so we may see what’s going on.

I ended up just removing the plugin. I was having other issues as well with the icon not displaying properly.

I may revisit this again, it would be great if Tumblr was built in. The site is extremely popular and home base to a lot of fandoms. I see so few of these plugins with Tumblr built in. I’m still on the hunt.
