I recently (in the last 30 days) installed the events calendar in on our organizational website. https://distributedwind.org

It was the answer to all our dreams, a beautiful easy to edit calendar where we can post all our upcoming events in either a list or calendar format. And it worked in our existing wordpress theme: charitas.

Fast forward to yesterday, I am leaving my position and I was showing my replacement (cc’d above) how to add an event. All of a sudden all of the fields where I could previously add event details like the date, time and location of the event, who the organizer is, the event website, etc are ALL GONE. The events I had previously added to the website all still have that information attached to the event and those categories are still there on the dashboard but I can no longer create new events.

I’m hopeful that there is an easy fix, since this worked PERFECTLY until the last day or so and was the answer to all of our problems (well event calendar problems). If this requires a deep dive into our website and is super complicated we may just have to search for a different calendar tool… it’s just frustrating because it did everything we needed, so i’m not sure why it’s stopped working.

Thanks in advance for any help you can offer.

  • I am having the same problem since WordPress updated to 4.1.2 and I updated The Event Calendar to 3.9.2. Is there any way to revert to previous versions if there is a clash with the WordPress update?

Glad to know I’m not totally insane.

Sorry about your troubles here @lglickman (and @oxhums), this is odd behavior indeed and I cannot reproduce it on any of my local sites.

The first thing I can think of here is to make sure “The Events Calendar” is checked in your edit-event “Screen Options” tab, which you can access in the top-right corner of the browser screen. Once you click the tab, the options should open and you should see a set of checkboxes like in this screenshot → https://cloudup.com/cQOMc5Ovd2s

If you do this, do you notice that checkbox at all? And if so, does ensuring that it is checked resolve your problems here?

If the above steps do not help, then I’m curious about what you said here:

this worked PERFECTLY until the last day

Are there any recent changes that stand out to you that you made on your site immediately before these problems started showing up?

For example, were things working fine and then you updated your theme, or updated a plugin, or updated Core, or made any settings changes in your admin area –?anything at all you can think of before the problems started happening?

If neither of the above questions shed any light on these issues, then I can’t think of a better next step than to run through the troubleshooting steps we have outlined in full here → https://theeventscalendar.com/knowledgebase/testing-for-conflicts/

    Thanks!

So the only thing that changed was I updated our wordpress to the latest version.

I’ve since resolved the issue, but honestly I have NO IDEA what I did. I upgraded to pro to get quicker support— and then i updated all of our plug-ins– and I also de-activated and re-activated all the plug ins– which de-activating them all didn’t fix anything but after re-activating everything– the fields were back….

I solved the issue the same way: deactivated all plugins, updated WordPress and the theme, then checked Events Calendar was back to normal (it was) and re activated plugins one by one, regularly checking the calendar edit function. Back to normal functionality now. Phew!

Well, not sure what went wrong there exactly – but I’m glad it all worked out!
