bing reports no site map submitted

Hi
I am experiencing some 404 messages on my site and when digging around found out I was not indexing on bing. when I went to bing webmaster tools it says that not site map submitted. I did upload the code to my webroot, and when I click on the bing link in your plugin it takes me to the bing webmaster site.
I’m not very literate in computerland. I would really appreciate your help!
