I know that this issue is not as a result of this plugin but im wondering if anyone here has even any ideas.

Ive used 2 different plugins that allow users to upload mp3 files via ftp into WP (we have different podcasts from different hosts so we automate it)

The plugins work fine they pull the mp3 files into the media library where you can insert them into your blog or podcast plugin. The problem is that any mp3’s that have been “imported” from an ftp folder will not play in the podcast plugin. If you go to the file itself it has a file size , length and if you preview it. it plays fine. But when you pull it into the podcast via a post etc it does not register anymore and will not play THO IT WILL download the podcast for you. Also if you take that same file and manually upload it into the podcast it plays fine. Just wondering if anyone has ever heard of this because i cant think of what could cause it. ive tried at least ten different files now and the plugin i used to bring it in is called add from server which to my luck is no longer being supported.

As i stated when i posted this i knew that this had nothing to do with this plugin however i thought since we all use mp3 files someone might know the answer. i was able to figure it out on the verge of pulling my hair out. Since i hate when people say “resolved” and not tell you what they did to help others ill tell you what my issue was in case someone finds this post at a later time.

My issue was the files being used had spaces in them. so the podcasting plugin read them with funny characters after they were imported. I guess when you manually upload a file it takes care of the spaces? not sure but thas why they would play in the preview but not play in the podcast because the file url became really funky. SOOO anyone not having a file play.. check the filename!

    Thanks again

Thanks for posting your solution here.

From v1.9.5 of Seriously Simple Podcasting, the issue with spaces in audio file URLs has been fixed, so you no longer need to worry about that ??
