Yoast mix/matches my site content & permalinks!
-
Hello.
This happened before and I just turned off Yoast and everything went back to normal, but I tried again couple weeks later and seemed like the problem resolved itself… until the next day…
I was making a small update to a page and when I reloaded the page to view my changes, I got a page not found.. when i went back to the edit window, the permalink had changed, taking part of the name from a portfolio item.
eg.
https://www.mysite.com/interviews
had suddenly changed to
https://www.mysite.com/charles-interview (I do have a charles interview but it lives at https://www.mysite.com/interviews/charles-interview)Not only that but the feature image and title, and other page settings were also being taken from the same charles portfolio while the main content had remained! I had half a page of one and half of the other.
I deactivated the yoast plugin, but this time the information didn’t correct itself and I had to rebuild the page to what it was before (change the permalink, change the feature image and title and page options, etc.).
Seems like this is Yoast, as it only happens when I turn it on…but not sure if its a theme compatibility issue – theme is supposed to work with Yoast. Maybe a hosting issue or other? I renamed my htaccess file, logged back into WP and changed my permalinks to generate a new htaccess file. I compared the two files and they were the same so I dont think that was it…
Im afraid to turn Yoast back on because it messes up my pages and takes forever to fix them. Actually sometimes it wont even take my changes while Yoast is on, when the page reloads it just reverts to the old settings.
Im hoping someone can help as I cant use the plugin. ??
Best,
R
