That means either you don’t have FFMPEG installed on your server or you haven’t pointed the plugin to the path where FFMPEG is installed on your server.

    Thanks for the fast response.

I have disabled ‘When possible, use the browser’s built-in video capabilities to make thumbnails instead of FFMPEG.’ and the thumbnails generate ok. I monitored the server at the FFMPEG started.

The test output also seems to work fine..?

Unless I’m mistaken? I don’t count myself as a linux master by any stretch of the imagination.

That all looks like it’s in order. Looking closer at the image it seems like you’re using the Embed video from URL tab, so it’s most likely a JavaScript error. Can you open the developer console in your browser and check for errors? Does encoding work for videos that you have in your Media Library? What’s the URL of the video you’re trying to encode? Do you see a popup message when you hover the cursor over the faded out area?

    Thread Starter Edgey

    (@edgey)

    1. No browser error

    2. Have used ‘Add from server’ to place into library and the encoding option appears and begins successfully!
2a… Do I have to keep the browser open to complete the action or can I change pages etc?

    3. URL is within the server and no popup message when hover over the cursor area.
3a… The file is around 700mb so maybe it doesn’t ‘like’ the URL method?

There’s no need to keep the browser open once encoding starts. Everything happens in the background.

I don’t think the size of the file should matter. I’d like to figure out what’s going on with the Embed from URL method. Can you give me the URL of the video?

No problem, thanks for your help.

Unfortunately I cannot provide it, it is a local link to the server and at the moment there may well be many vulnerabilities as I have not made anything secure.

I’ll hopefully be able to update you with the link in the next 24/48 hours though.
