• Hello all,

As of now, I have my site working fine, and it is set up so that three different URL’s are pointing to the same place on the server. One of the domain names is old and in truth nobody is going to probably use it anyway. The problem is that the I designed the site on the old domain name so that the URL and URI under the options tab is pointing to the old site. This conflicts and causes problems with one of my plugins and maybe with others. I originally didn’t want to mess with changing them in case something went wrong and it seemed to work anyway. Now, I think I have to change it and I wanted to make sure that by changing the URL and URI under the options panel it won’t mess things up.

Is this all that needs to be done? I think this is pretty simple but want to be sure so that things still work.

    Thanks!!!

basically, the site works fine as of now, but I just wanted the URL and URI values to represent the dominant domain name, not the old one. Both names point to the same place on the server, but as you know, WordPress asks for the URL and URI of only one.

So, I was just wondering if I changed the URI and URL values to the other name, would this disrupt anything or is it that simple?

    I think I begin to understand it…
    1. URL and URI refer to the same thing: example.com in your admin > Options > General. (I know some consider one of them more correct than the other, but for the sake of simplicity let’s use only one now.)
    2. No, you can NOT put “fantasy” values in there. They have to point to the real location of your WP install!
