How to add Google Analytics code snippet for all pages?

    Somehow I saw that my site does not have a Google Analytics code added.
    I am also seeing that there was a sudden drop in traffic Feb 4 onwards. It dropped like 90%.

    I now want to add the Google Analytics code snippet (as all the articles suggest) to all the pages.
    How can I do that?

    Do I simply insert the code in the header.php file? Or the footer.php file? Or both?

    How do I do that for all the pages for my site and not just the home page?
