Minify error message for file that doesn't exist

  • I recently deleted a plugin and started receiving the following message with each admin page load.

    Recently an error occurred while creating the CSS / JS minify cache: File “…/wp-content/plugins/footnotes/css/public.css” doesn’t exist.

    My csss minify settings are on Auto, however I toggled to Manual to confirm the file wasn’t listed to be minified. Any idea how to get rid of this?

    I should add that W3TC is working perfectly other than this random error and has been for the past few years.

    And now the error message won’t go away even after pressing “Hide this message.” Seems weird to be spitting out an error for a file that’s no longer on the server or listed in the settings!

    I′ve been having this issue for a long time, if you search the support forum you′ll see that it is a common – and old – issue. As is “no sources to serve” …

    Apparently it is impossible to fix and asking the developer for more info on where, why and how so far has not given me any results.

    My advice? Forget about it.
