A little bit of explanation what buddypress users are looking forward to with great expectation for the last 5 to 6 years, and what is being delayed in the core for eternity.

    – member can Like/Favorit a post in the Activity stream
    – the same Like/Favorit will show up under the actual post in that post page
    – member can also Like/Favorit a post in the actual post page
    – the same Like/Favorit will show up instantly in the Activity stream
    – members can see who has Favorited by clicking or hovering on the Favorite count (for example, Favorited by A, B, C, D, E and 5 more – on clicking more you see more names) BOTH in the stream and the actual post

[ As a note : this behavior is present in Buddypics by modemlooper – so that code may be ?? reused ]

Along with this Good to have
    – I can see in a Profile tab what you have Favorited
    – You can see in one of my Profile tab what I have Favorited

Basically without these Like/Favorite is almost impossible to implement – Elgg, Easysocial, Jomsocial etc as well as real world social nets have Likes/Favorite which act as 2-way switch between the stream and the actual content

    Thanks.

Thanks for the suggestions… I’m not too familiar with the inner workings of BuddyPress (I’ve only personally used it on a couple of sites), so I can’t promise anything at this point, but I’ll take a look at it.

Agree with that… A buddypress integration would be awsome. As mcpeanut this functionality is wanted by many users, but sadly there is no real solution.

eGuard yes it is so needed this plugin has potential to integrate with buddypress well, kyle maybe you should visit buddypress forums and have a dig into the codex and do a bit of experimenting? ‘oviously if you have the time’ After all as a developer im sure learning another major feature of wordpress such as buddypress can not do you any harm in the long run. I understand buddypress is only an extension of wordpress in the form of another plugin but it really is one on its own and is widely used by many for the social side of things on wordpress, the team who work on buddypress are a great bunch of people from my own experience using the forums. Kyle im not asking you to integrate it overnight or any time soon etc, just may be you would want to take a look into it? i appreciate anything from devs that spend time on plugins etc for wordpress users to use freely.

This sort of integration is exactly what I am looking for.

Also, it would be great if a user could organize favorites into their own defined categories. For example, I have a CPT called Destinations and I would like users to be able to favorite/like destinations and specify if it is a place they want to go or a place that have been. I feel it would get too complicated and cluttered to have this favorites plugin AND some sort of wishlist plugin. I think the favorites plugin has the capability to have this feature.

    +1 for buddypress support

Yup, I agree. I could use it right now in fact. I would simply like users (logged in or not) to be able to favorite a member’s profile page.
