Can you provide me with an example URL where a video is embedded? I can take a look and, hopefully, work out what’s at fault.

Looking at the source code of that page I can see the fault. Go into the plugins’ options screen and change the API state to “API should not be used”. The video should (hopefully) now work. Please let me know either way.

I’ll review the use of the API in the next release (after the one I’m pushing out today) to see if it can’t be improved to reduce issues such as this.

First of all, you’re supplying the embed URL, not the URL from the top of your browser. However, even that’s not working right now as it would appear that YouTube have changed the URL format for their playlists.

For now, the following will work (i.e. using just the ID of the playlist)…

    David.

Thank you David! it works now! I tried use just ID, but i also use PL letters in the begin and it did not work.

Hi, I have same issue on my website https://www.rammstein.us/ when trying to use a sidebar widget with a playlist
    https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLVTLbc6i-h_iuhdwUfuPDLFLXG2QQnz-x

I have tried using shortcodes as suggested with only playlist ID but no luck. I have enabled shortcodes in widgets in Options.

    Can you help?

You don’t appear to have the playlist in the sidebar now so I don’t have anything to check on your site – can you point me to a page which its on and I can see if I can see the cause.

    David.

    Hi David,

I have restored now widget back on sidebar with my original settings. sorry about it. The widget is on main page https://www.rammstein.us/.

Is there planned resolution of the issue with playlist hopefully in the next update? I have tried different suggestions to try and make playlist work but to no available.
I have also tried with my own playlist to make sure it’s not the issue with user restrictions. Same results. I am getting the error message

Apologies for the delay in responding – I’ve not disappeared off to Mexico to hide from YouTube playlist issues as you might have thought, but been on holiday.

Okay, this issue is coming from the length of the playlist ID. It used to be that YouTube defined a fix length for them. Which is good because it made differentiating between playlist and normal video IDs rather easy. Now that appears to have gone out the window. So, for now, the answer isn’t quick. Sorry. I’m going to need to go back to the drawing board on how I do this, whilst keeping backwards compatibility.

I’ll start on this straight away but no ETA as to when I can deliver.

Ok, that was (potentially) easier than I thought. Had a quick look and found a quick n’ dirty solution.

If anyone experiencing this issue would like to try out the following version of the plugin it will be appreciated…

    https://1drv.ms/1Pg2X7l

With this you can specify the playlist by including the PL at the beginning of the ID. So, the following should work as a shortcode…

Any feedback on this will be appreciated.
