Featured image not being automatically set

  • Video thumbnail always set but featured image only set 50% of the time. Anyone else experiencing this? I remember reading about someone two years ago in this thread that had the same problem. No resolution was ever shared, it would be super cool if this problem was solved. I have a feeling my “super post cleaner” is causing this issue but if I deactivate that plugin then the plugin will import 20 copies of the same video

    I’ll need to know a little more about your setup. Are your videos in a custom field? What other plugins are you using?

    WordPress 4.1.1

    Note: I import videos from Automatic youtube plugin as “publish immediately” however they go into “scheduled” mode for some reason so I added a code in my functions.php that publishes schedules posts immediately. Which solved that issue…. So I guess to answer your question, the youtube video is in a custom field b/c Automatic Youtube Plugin doesn’t import the embedded code into the post (you probably know this though).

    PS: Everything was working fine until I moved my hosting from Godaddy Linux hosting to their managed wordpress hosting. I don’t think it’s a managed wordpress hosting issue though because I did the same thing with a site that has the same plugins, and that is generating featured images just fine.

    If you need me to post my video thumbnails pro settings here it is…

    I’ve disabled all video provides except for youtube. And I also set the video thumbnails size to 500×500.

    I am having the same issue. The video thumbnail sets fine, but it will never set the Featured Image for some reason. Was this ever resolved?

    The issue is happening, for me, when I have the “Automatically set featured image” option on and that I delete the featured image on my post. Then, even if I change the link of the video, the featured image will not upload (but the video thumbnail will). If it can help, I’m using a custom field for the video link.

    Right now, I’m solving the front-end issue by echoing the video_thumbnail if no featured image is found. However, this is still an issue on the back end if I choose not to display the video_thumbnail metabox.

    Same here, featured image is never set. ??

    Just cleaned all the image thumbnails and scanned. Created the thumbnails but didn’t set them to featured image.
