PLUGIN / THEME UPDATES don't work, leads to mostly blank screen…

  • I’m trying to update my plugins and themes manually.
    I have the correct FTP login info, but when I enter my connection information and click ‘Proceed,’ it thinks for a minute, then takes me to a mostly blank page.

    Can still see my admin panel on the left side, and the page heading says ‘Update Plugins’ (or ‘Update Themes’ depending on what I’m trying) but the page is otherwise blank, and no updates run.

    I’m able to log into my FTP directly, so I know the login info is accurate.

    Any idea why updates would be stalling like this?

    This used to work fine. Not sure if some permissions got changed or what.
