I made some sub-folders in the upload directory of WordPress with the plugin ‘Media Library Folder’ (other plugins result in the same next problem).
However, Slider Pro wants to add files only in the directory ‘uploads’, not in the sub-directories of upload directory.
This means that the images of all my slides and galleries are going to be in one folder, which is almost unmanageable.

How can I make it happen that images going to sub-folders?

    greetings,
    Willem

Hi, Willem. Slider Pro doesn’t handle itself the uploading of the images; the images are uploaded using the built-in WordPress Media Library. When you click on a slide, it just opens an instance of the Media Library and the following actions are handled by core WordPress functionality.

Maybe the other plugin doesn’t extend the default Media Library so that it overrides the functionality that Slider Pro and other plugins use. However, in order to add images into the slider, you don’t necessarily need to open the Media Library, you can directly add the path of the image in the Image -> Source field from the Main Image editor (first button on the slide, in the admin area).

Doing so the imported image will be put in the ‘uploads’ folder.

In the media library ‘uploads’ there come all the images of all my sliders together, as a big bunch.

Is there no way to avoid this?

I understand, but the slider plugin doesn’t manage image uploads, it uses the built-in Media Library. However, as I said above, you can use other plugins to upload and organize your images, and then copy the uploaded image link into the slide directly instead of relying on the Media Library.

    Dear David,

I cannot figure out how to do this:

In wordpress Dashboard: Slider Pro / Add New
    – Name: sliderA
    – Click to add image => Add Media
    – choice: ‘select files’ goes to my local files and after that it (all of them) puts it in wp-content/uploads.
    – choise: ‘drop files to upload’ has the same result
    – choice: left side ‘insert from URL’ want to put the (online, eg https://myvoyages.nl/test/galleries-test-a/aa04-1982-africa.jpg) image in a post, not into the gallery.

    Am I missing something?

    greetings
    Willem

    Hi Wilem,

Instead of clicking on the ‘Click to add image’ area, click on the bottom left button below. There are five buttons there; click on the first one, and you will be able to add the image path manually. Doing this, you can add any image, even an image that is hosted in a different location than your site.

    Best,
    David
