Display content by page slug instead of ID

I have a need to set up a shortcode that would display content based on the page’s slug. It works fine when I us id=”9,10″, but I don’t want to base it on the ID, I want it to be something like slug=”smith, jones”. I have a slug set up for each of my custom posts and it would be much easier for my client to enter a name instead of trying to figure out the page ID. Is this possible? Thanks for any guidance!
