• Hi, please don’t get mad at me for re-posting a resolved issue, but I’ve been searching for days, and none of the solutions I could find would work for me.
I’ve tried with Firefox, IE, Opera, and in Vista, XP, and Ubuntu Linux. The problem is, that when I go to the widgets page, I can’t drag and drop them. I put my curser over an available widget, and it shows the little four-way arrow thing, but it just acts as a static object, and can’t be dragged. I’ve tried re-downloading and re-installing wordpress, but the same thing always happens. I tried disabling all my plugins, and using the default theme, but none of this works. I’ve tried numerous other solutions that I found that I won’t go into detail with, but none of them have worked!
I’d really appreciate help with this.
    Thanks in advance.

    Any suggestions?

This is a javascript conflict. I would suggest deactivating all of your plugins and try again. If it woks at that point, reactivate each plugin one at a time and try it–when it stops working you’ll know which plugin is causing this issue. It has happened to me before (using my own Plugin! Which I then fixed). Basically one of your plugins (or possibly themes, but this is less likely) has some javascript that is messing up the drag and drop script used in the widgets page. This is most likely due to an admin menu plugin, so start looking at those first.

If you are using any King plugin (King Login, King Framework, etc.) it is not compatible with the latest version of WP or the Widgets and will cause the dragging not to function.

I disabled all my plugins, and it still wouldn’t work!

Last possibilities are your theme has some javascript that is causing a problem–try using the default theme and see if that works. The only other thing would be your web browser–try using different ones and see if any work properly, maybe you have some settings that are preventing the javascript from working correctly in the one you are regularly using.
