    Hi,
Been developing a website using the free Virtue Theme by Kadence.
Recently decided to create a Child Theme.
Set up a directory, created another style.css file. However, the Virtue style.css file is empty. Nothing at all inside except the stylesheet header. Where are the contents?

    What..the…??? Am I missing something?

    Thanks for your insight.

  • Hi 80grit,

Keep in mind that you do not need to copy the styles from the parent theme to your child theme’s stylesheet. The only styles you need to put in your child theme’s stylesheet are the ones you want to change. Because you are using a child theme, you shouldn’t need a separate custom CSS plugin (and certainly not one that hasn’t been updated in over two years like the one you linked to).

With that being said, the Virtue theme’s style are in:

    wp-content/themes/virtue/assets/css/virtue.css

    Hope this helps!

Hmmm… How did that happen? Had no idea I linked to that css plugin.

    On to the main point:
    CHRIS-TI…CHRIS-TI….CHRIS-TI!!! WOOOOOO!!!
Thanks so much for the clarification on a Child Themes’ contents, and on the location of Virtue’s css! So that is the reason nothing exists inside the style.css file, correct? It resides elsewhere as you indicated.
