If you are having issues with permalinks and settings please try the following first. If they’re still not working after that, please start a new thread.

Items that have worked with varying success:

    • Flush your permalink rewrite rules by visiting your Permalinks page.
    • Edit each post type/taxonomy settings after the version update and save without making any changes.

Still in investigation: Taxonomies losing association after upgrade.

Re-saving the associated taxonomies should work fine and get you going again. Just edit the post type(s) in question and re-check the appropriate values and save.

If none of these apply or worked, let me know in the new thread.

  • Thanks! All my custom post types pages stopped working. Flushing my permalink rewrite rules instantly fixed it.

i’m holding off on the upgrade until the taxonomy thing is fixed. have way too many posts to re associate each term. will you post an update when this is resolved?

p.renee, it’s not a matter of re-associating the posts, just re-associating the CPTUI settings for post type taxonomy. So it’d be a pretty quick thing to fix, if it happens, depending on how many of each you have.

Hey Michael, I have seen this resaving of the CTP’s solution work consistently, except on one specific site I manage. When I resave the CTP’s the pages work again temporarily, but then at some point they revert back to 404’s. Resaving fixes again temporarily, but I’m stuck checking over and over making sure it’s still working.

    Any ideas? Running v1.0.4

CloudburstDesign, any reason you haven’t upgraded to 1.0.5 yet? As odd as it may be, there is chance that the newest version helps with this. Otherwise, I am not sure why it keeps resetting on you.

I ran the 1.0.5 update on another site, and new custom post types were somehow attached as Media items, and not using the correct template structure (single-cptname.php for example). I was concerned about updating this site for the same reason. Perhaps we will try it in a local sandbox to see. Any other ideas?

Did you flush the permalinks after the update? That’s been a needed step for reasons I have yet to determine with the upgrade to 1.0.x

Hello. Thank you for such power tool for site building. Just one remark: after update 1.0.8 there is 2 notices in the plugin

Hi, I am novice in wordpress. What does it mean “flush the permalinks”?
Can you please write (step by step) what can I do to do “Flush permalinks”?

    Thank you,

    David

Visit the permalinks settings page and hit save, without editing anything.

Hi, after updating to WP 4.3 from 4.2, all the pages in the admin under “Pages” do not show. The count above the list (e.g. Published (42), Private(2)) show the correct count but the list is empty. When I disable CPT UI the list is full as it should be again.

I have disabled every plugin except Advanced Custom Fields which is up to date. Under ACFs Custom Field section in admin the same thing happens. Posts and Media are not affected neither are custom post types themselves (e.g. Under the People heading in my case).

If I deactivate ACF and only have CPT UI enabled, the problem remains.

I have tried changing to default theme to no avail too.

I have tried what you suggested at the beginning of this thread also with no luck.

I really need to get to the bottom of this as otherwise I can’t update WP going forward.

    I’d really appreciate any help,
    Thanks

jtotheroc, trying to make sure I have this accurate.

In short, when you have CPTUI enabled on WP4.3, the default page post type is no longer properly listing the available pages? Are any other post types affected that way? or is it just Pages?

Very curious issue, because we shouldn’t be affecting anything on those pages, unless you somehow set some odd values for your settings that are affecting it that way.

Hi, yes that’s right the “pages” type and also ACFs own “Custom Field” type do not show rows in their tables in the admin.

Just to be sure I tried the WP core update again this time with default theme and all plugins deactivated. Upon reactivating CPTUI the “page” post type and “custom field” type does not display any rows in their respective admin page lists but has the correct count above it – e.g. howe many are published, draft etc.

There doesn’t appear to be anything in the PHP error log too.

What odd settings could have done something like this do you think?
