Plugin: Image Browser (formerly called Insert Imag

  • This plugin adds an “Insert Image” button to the top right corner of the edit screen which opens an image browser to select from all previously uploaded images and add the appropriate code to the post. If you want, you can consider it a sort of mini-gallery to select the images from.
    Current features include atomagical recognization of thumbnails, sorting images by name or by time of last modification for easy selection and many more. Apart from that, the new version now supports displaying images on multiple pages in a gallery-like style, thus you can handle large(r) amounts of images without problems.

    Fantastic plugin! I love the way it automatically recognizes thumbnails. The only thing I’ve noticed is that for some reason with the WYSIWYG editor hack, it won’t automatically copy the code in, but a simple copy and paste takes care of that.
    The only improvement I’d like to see is the ability to browse folders that are inside of the default upload folder.

    @shadow: You can change this in the admin panel (Options > Miscellaneous)
    @theglobalguy: I already gave some thoughts to the browse subfolders idea but, as far as I know, WP has no support for this, or am I wrong? Anyhow the idea is on the todo list just below thumbnail (re)creation abilities.

    I’m not enough of a PHP guy (yet) to know exactly how it’s done, but the File Manager hack (in the wiki) and the recently posted exhibit plugin both support browsing subfolders from a given root folder. You might be able to borrow some of that code.

    I’ve installed this and the button isn’t showing up. I’m pretty sure everything is ok. I’m *assuming* the default image directory is /mydomain.com/myblog/images/ and I’ve enabled the plug-in.
    I’m also using safari on Mac OSX 2.3 and wp-style-switcher

    I know the placement looks a bit out of place, but the button should appear literally in the top right corner of the screen — or should I say, the browser window? Are you sure, you really looked at the right place?
    If you are unsure, you can just search the whole page for “Insert Image”. Please leave me a note, if you really can’t find it.

    On your site it says some way to put that button below the post screen. I do not really understand the instructions there so could you please explain it herE?

    zarn- thank you SO MUCH for this plugin. it’s exactly what i needed and i’m DELIGHTED with it. i hope they make it part of the package, or some form of it. very nice!

    Also, one feature that would be nice is to popup a new page that resizes to the picture size just like the photo display hack. I did some editing to add the onclick stuff to the output, it works fine here except I broke the code to adding the output into the post screen. Have to manually cut and paste now, heh

    I’m having the same problem as rayn. Hah! We even have almost the same name. I cannot find the insert image link anywhere on my post page. I’ve copied the files to the right places and I’ve activated the plugin, but it isn’t showing up. I search the whole page using the search in page on my browser for the words “Insert” and it was not found. I’m trying to install to 2 different WP installations and it isn’t showing up in either. I’m using version 1.2 epsilon RC2.
