I am having trouble uploading pictures to my blog. I am a new user, and am generally lost. Whenever I try to upload, I receive a message: “Unable to create directory /home2/mondlick/mondlick-www/blog/wp-content/uploads/2007/06. Is its parent directory writable by the server?”

Where is this problem located? With settings on WordPress? Settings with mySQL? or with Settings from my host?

    Please Help!!

  • It is the permissions on your wp-content/uploads folder that you need to change. Have a look over this on how to change the permissions.

The problem is that you probably need to set the permissions on wp-content to 777, then set wp-content/uploads to 777 also.

See Changing_File_Permissions on using your FTP client to change permissions.

Mondster, did you get your problem resolved? I had the same experience. WP is sorting your uploads by year and month. I started by manually creating the appropriate folders but later just changed the upload prefs so it no longer sorts the uploads. I don’t have many uploads anyway so I really didn’t need them sorted.
