Modifying themes

    I have a big question and its been debated before and the answers are split. I have tried contacting the theme developer to no avail. I am talking about the theme The Hunter 1.3 by FlexiThemes
    here

    I have done some heavy and (tooting my own horn) quite amazing transformations to this theme, such as My site here and This one

    So the big question is once a theme reaches a point that it is no longer the same theme then are credits still due? At one point does one begin to call it their design? I dont want to discredit anyone but I would like to have credit for all my hard work put into my designs.

    When one says design, are they speaking of the theme look itself or the php template work or the whole ball of wax.?
