    Hello,

Today I tried to log into my website via the wp-admin URL, but when I submit my credentials, I keep getting redirected to https://www.google.com/?gws_rd=ssl, which looks like my Google homepage. It doesn’t matter which credentials I put in (as in, right or wrong), I’ll still get redirected. And when I go back to the website, there’s no indication that I’ve logged in (no admin bar at the top).

I’ve tried in both Chrome and Safari with the same results, even after clearing the cache. I can log in to the other 2 WordPress websites I admin with no problems.

What is causing this redirect, and how can I stop it? It seems I have no access to the website’s back end until this is resolved.

    Thanks!
    Alice

Hello. You have a security plugin that is probably causing this.

Using ftp or the file manager provided by your host rename the plugins folder to plugins-old

It worked! Thank you very much.

Can you tell us which plugin caused the problem?

I moved the plug-ins back one by one to test them, but the problem didn’t return. There were 2 plug-ins that needed updating: Semalt Redirect Manager and WordPress SEO by Yoast. Not sure if either one of those might’ve been the culprit. The only plug-in I didn’t move back was ManageWP Worker, because I don’t recall ever using that one.

I did notice that wp-admin now redirects to https://explorerstm.com/wp-login.php?redirect_to=http%3A%2F%2Fexplorerstm.com%2Fwp-admin%2F&reauth=1. Not sure exactly when that redirect started happening, though. Again, I greatly appreciate your help!

    The redirect is correct.
