Post Numbers Aren’t Sequential

    I don’t understand why ID numbers of posts are not sequential.. I mean: when I publish a post its ID number is not previous ID number + 1, but can be several units more..

    This started happening after the upgrade to WordPress 2.2.

    IE my last 10 posts,1531, 1529, 1526, 1525, 1523, 1522, 1518, 1517, 1516, 1514.

    They only ever become sequential when I do multiple posts in a row. What can be causing this?

    I am not deleting anything nor am I making pages in between. Normally if I dont have another post, I go to dashboard. If I go back later to make another post, after it’s published, it’s skipped again.

  • Every Page has a post_id.
    Every attachment or uploaded image has a post_id.
    Those numbers don’t “mean” anything.

    Working as normal — and as it has since 2.0 was released.

    Ahhh OK so by using the image upload feature of WP, it is taken the next number in the database.
