• Hello,

I am having an issue making some edits on our websites top toolbar. We are using WordPress template twentyeleven-child and our hosting is Yahoo Small Business. The website is amronconstruction.com

While I was trying to add a new page (Blog) to the toolbar, I noticed it was not updating on my website for several minutes. Then I noticed that it only showed up when you were on certain pages. The new Blog page is only showing up in “Main”, “About Us”, and “Blog” but is not showing up in the rest.

Then, I encountered another problem with the toolbar. To test out the toolbar, I nested “CMS” under “About Us”. I have since changed it back in the dashboard to having “no parent” but it is still showing up on the website nested under “About Us”, but again only on certain pages: “Main”, “CMS”, “About Us”, and “Blog”. In the other pages, it shows up on the toolbar without a parent page.

I also created a test page that was nested under “About Us” and have since removed it entirely from my Pages, but it still appears consistently with the CMS page nested under “About Us”.

I’ve also made sure to arrange my menus in “Appearance” on the dashboard to reflect the changes I’d like it to make, but have had no success in changing it back.

Let me know if you need access or screenshots. Thanks for the help!

    Hello,

I haven’t gotten a response on this yet, and I could really use the help. Is there somewhere else I should ask?

    Thanks!

Looks like your site has SuperCache plugin enabled? Try clearing/deleting the cache – see if that helps. If not, deactivate it and deactivate all other plugins – see if that works.

I have WP-Cache enabled, which I think is similar. I cleared the cache and deactivated my plugins, but that seemed to create another problem:

The webpage at https://amronconstruction.com/root/blog-2/ has resulted in too many redirects. Clearing your cookies for this site or allowing third-party cookies may fix the problem. If not, it is possibly a server configuration issue and not a problem with your computer.

This is the warning message I’m getting for every page.

The weird thing is this morning when I went to check the website, the original problem had fixed itself. It’s almost like the changes I make in dashboard take an hour or more to show up on the actual website. Any thoughts on that?

Again, I appreciate the help! Many thanks!

I also wanted to add we just got off the phone with Yahoo Small Business, and they could not help us. We tried switching the themes within WordPress, and that did not help.

As far as WordPress is concerned, I’d say I have intermediate knowledge for troubleshooting, so please excuse any need to clarify!

EDIT: Some updates on work I’ve been doing myself. I searched other troubleshooting forums for similar problems and one suggested switching my permalinks from custom to default. My permalinks were originally “amronconstruction.com/root/commercial”, for example. I switched them to “amronconstruction.com/root/?page_id=20”. This works if I copy and paste it into the url bar. However, the links on the homepage toolbar are still stuck at “amronconstruction.com/root/commercial” and so on. I’m wondering if this is another example of updates taking a long time to appear on the website.

    AND YET ANOTHER POST:

Okay, I have fixed the biggest problem. Just thought I’d update with a solution for future troubleshooters.

After reading other people’s troubleshooting posts, I found the issue to the redirect loop was fixed through switching my permalinks to default.

When I saw the website was not updating quickly enough, I did some research with that and found my WP-Cache manager was causing a delay in the refreshing of updates to the website. So, disable cache managers if you’re making updates.

So, it’s fixed! Thanks for going on this journey with me. Hope this helps others in the future. Thanks!
