Hi AnyNameWillDo what PayPal account have you signed up to? Do you have a PayPal IPN Notification set up?

I am just a volunteer so I’m not sure but I’ll ask someone who does. Would this affect selecting the quantity and, if so, how would we fix it?

    Hi please read the following.

Instant Payment Notification (IPN) is a message service that notifies you of events related to PayPal transactions. You can use IPN messages to automate back-office and administrative functions, such as fulfilling orders, tracking customers, or providing status and other transaction-related information.

Click on the following URL and focus on Step 8.

    Hi mbrsolution,

Can you elaborate how setting up IPN Notifications will solve the page refresh issue when trying to change item quantity in the cart?

From the description of Step 8 it doesn’t appear that setting up these notifications or changing paypal account type will alter functionality of the plugin cart

    Thanks in advance

@alexgophermix I was merely pointing out what is needed to have this plugin work well with PayPal and avoid other issues in the future. In regards to the refresh problem, there are other areas that needs to be checked first.

    1) Check to see if there is a plugin compatibility issue?
    2) Check to see if there is an issue with the theme used?
    3) If there is a cache plugin is it set up correctly to work with the shopping cart?

If you have this issue can your run through my steps above.

    Thank you

@mbrsolution thanks for the reply. It is almost certainly an issue with theme or plugin compatibility. I installed the latest version of WP Paypal Shopping Cart on a test site and I could change the item quantity successfully (albeit still with a page refresh).

To be thorough here is the full active plugin list:
    Contact Form 7
    Contact Form DB
    Display Widgets
    GC Testimonials
    Share Buttons by AddToAny
    Shortcodes Ultimate
    Simple Exclude Categories
    Soliloquy
    SpeakUp! Email Petitions
    Speedy Page Redirect
    Subscribe2
    Tweet Blender
    Vixy YouTube Embed
    Widget Logic
    WP Simple Paypal Shopping cart
    WP Sitemap Page

Our theme was developed by a third party and also has 3 custom widgets that simply set up custom post types when active (currently active and not listed above).

Have you noticed any compatibility issues with any of the above listed plugins in the past? If not do you have any recommendations on how to best approach debugging what might be causing the full page refresh and emptying of the basket?

Thanks for all your help so far

@alexgophermix, what you have to do is deactivate all your plugins except this one. Then activate one by one and carry out a test each time you activate a plugin.

If after your perform the above you still have an issue then test one of WordPress default themes.
