Sugar and Spice theme

  • Hi everyone,
    I have the theme Sugar and Spice I wonder if anyone can help, I have started a website build using this theme, I can code to a fashion, as I have made adjustments to the structure already, what I am having a problem with is the following.
    when viewing on a large monitor,
    I would like to have either side of the website a different color than the white there presently,
    can anyone suggest how this can be achieved,
