• Hi,

First, my apologies if after so many years of wordpress i just discovered this, but:

Recently installed the latest version and for this client i need to set up a custom permalink structure – interestingly enough only the second time i ever did this.

Problem is the structure (which is pretty simple /stomatologie/%postname%/ ) seems to only work for posts. Pages are not affected at all. Verified the .httaccess file, even let WP update it by itself, but no joy.

Page links still works and whatnot, so i’m not getting any 404s, i just don’t get the appended structure to the page URLs, just to the Posts.

Did i miss this basic fact along the years and the custom structure is meant only for posts?

  • Hi Ekesh,

How do you do? Yes, you are exactly right. The custom permalink field (settings > permalinks), via your wordpress dashboard, only applies to posts. Not to pages.

Your pages always live at the top hierarchy. You may have to edit your .htacess file to achieve what you’re looking for.
