In the Edit Event screen, the map covers the text boxes. This happens on both Firefox and IE. To reproduce:

    • Edit an event and expand the location box. It will render OK
    • Edit a second event and open the event box. The map covers the text fields.

Looking through Firebug, in the first case all the locations are set to absolute (0,0) and all divs are visible.
In the second case, the inner div is set to absolute (-68, -121) and some of the divs in the hierarchy are hidden.

Exiting the browser seems to clear the problem.

We’re running 2.1.9. This is the first time our customer has reported the problem.

I’ve done a bit more digging. The map is appearing in the wrong place if the Show Google Map box has not been checked on an existing event (it just happened to be the second in the list). Whether latitude and longitude have been specified or that option ticked does not appear to affect the behaviour.

Unfortunately, the map covers the text and checkboxes when you add a new event – which means you cannot show the map for new events.

I can fix the offending event through the database and recommend my customer creates new events by cloning so he can use the site.

I now have a copy of the site so I can check whether it is affected by other plugins and let you know the outcome.

I can confirm this happens on all of my sites as well. When creating a new site, the Google map covers the fields in the add location area. This is in Chrome.

This is a bug, probably google changed something in the API, gonna fix this for 2.2 ( but it’s not yet in the beta )

Thanks for the response. I look forward to version 2.2

For information, I have switched off all my other plugins and am still getting the effect.

In the short term, changing the default setting of that flag to checked would make the plugin more usable. You would only then get the issue if you switched maps off and then changed your mind.

Hi, can you try to modify the CSS file as seen here? https://take.ms/LnO11

red means delete, green means add, no need to recompile

Hi – I tried modifying the css as you showed but I am still getting the same issue.

@morality28 clear the cache in the browser

Hi – that didn’t help. I also restarted the browser. Using Chrome.

Same issue – map covers the entry fields of the event locations

I’ve tried the css change and it works OK for me in Firefox and IE, but not in Chrome.

How does it look like in chrome?

It works the same way as in other browsers – if you are in developer tools and have disabled the cache.

If you are just in the browser, it is obviously caching strongly – I can’t now get it to misbehave!

I’m having the same issue where the map covers the text so the Event Location field cannot easily be edited. I was able to type the text in – without being able to see it, so it looks ok to users. But it’s very difficult to add new events this way.

Click here for a screen grab.

    Firefox on Windows 8 computer.

@alan did you apply the patch?

Alan’s screen grab is what I get without the patch, if the Google Maps box is not checked. If you check the box (tab out of Address box and then hit space) the map moves to the right place.
If you then disable maps, it disappears.
