    Hi all,

I’ve received some feedback that if you try to subscribe to my posts on my homepage https://thecreativecanvass.com/ it bounces to the about page before you finish typing your name.

    I’m running Sparkling theme.

Can anyone assist and tell me why this may be happening.

    Thanks in advance.

It’s happening because your HTML markup is malformed: see here. You need to remove the space in </ a> on line 1213. I assume you inserted that by some kind of widget. While you’re at it, I would recommend having a look at your markup in the W3C validator.

And if I may add a piece of unsolicited advice, consider doing some image optimisation. I nearly had a heart attack when I saw that your home page alone was 20MB.

Hi CW, thanks so much for your help.

I’ve removed the space in the widget I used to create the text, is there anywhere else I need to fix it as I couldn’t find the line you were referring to.

Also, thanks so much for your advice on the images, I will definitely be fixing this up as I don’t want them to be too large.

Also, what is the W3C validator?

Thanks so much again. Have a great night.

The validator is a tool that allows you to identify errors in your HTML markup. Not all of the errors that it displays are critical, so don’t worry about trying to track down every single error. But when things don’t behave in the expected manner, the culprit is often some stray markup, which the validator may help you to identify.

Thanks again CW, I really appreciate the time you took to answer my queries.

    Have a great weekend.
