Oh sorry to hear that – you’ll need to use FTP or Cpanel to access your site files on the server – ask your hosts how to set that up if you don’t know.

I cannot get into FTP. It says Winsock error when I am trying to logon. I am not sure if I am inputting info in correctly or not.
This is so difficult. Please help.

You need to ask your hosting company for help with that – it’s not part of WP.

What WPyogi said. Get in touch with your hosting company, let them know what the situation is and ask them to remove all access to the FTP on your site.

If you haven’t already, you should also change the password to get into the hosting company’s webpage. If you can’t get in there either, again get in touch and ask them to send a password reset email to the email you first registered with, NOT the email address that’s there now, as the hacker may have changed it to their own. Make sure your new password is complicated and that you have a way to remember it.

Focus on getting the permissions back and secure first, and you’ll be able to get the content back faster.
