Mailchimp Plugin slows down web page response time

  • I am using the mailchimp plugin to allow users to subscribe from my wordpress site and store their information in the mailchimp database. The mailchimp plugin clearly slows down the response time on my website. If the plugin is enabled then the page response time is 10 seconds. If I disable the plugin then response time is between 3 and 4 seconds. This problem has been diagnosed by others. The offending lines are in approximately lines 1112 and 113 in mailchimp.php. If I comment out these lines then my website responds more quickly. However, I get errors in administration mode. When will the response time problem be fixed?

    Unfortunately I can’t provide an ETA on their behalf but I assure you the developers are currently working on some improvements to this plugin and your request on GitHub will definitely be noted as they make these improvements.
