• I have been developing a website for months now from my Mac (running the latest version of Yosemite). I mainly use Chrome, but sometimes use Safari as well.

As of a few days ago, I can no longer access my wp-admin panel or the site itself.
    cpmnw.com.

I have learned that I am only encountering this error on this specific Mac computer. I can access everything just fine from a PC or other Mac computers, just not my own…

When I try to access the /wp-admin I get the following message:

    ——————————————————————————————————–

    The page cannot be found

The page you are looking for might have been removed, had its name changed, or is temporarily unavailable.
    Please try the following:

Make sure that the Web site address displayed in the address bar of your browser is spelled and formatted correctly.
If you reached this page by clicking a link, contact the Web site administrator to alert them that the link is incorrectly formatted.
Click the Back button to try another link.
HTTP Error 404 – File or directory not found.
    Internet Information Services (IIS)

    Technical Information (for support personnel)

Go to Microsoft Product Support Services and perform a title search for the words HTTP and 404.
Open IIS Help, which is accessible in IIS Manager (inetmgr), and search for topics titled Web Site Setup, Common Administrative Tasks, and About Custom Error Messages.

    ——————————————————————————————————–

When I try to access the site home (cpmnw.com), I get the following message:

    ——————————————————————————————————–

    Under Construction

The site you are trying to view does not currently have a default page. It may be in the process of being upgraded and configured.

Please try this site again later. If you still experience the problem, try contacting the Web site administrator.

If you are the Web site administrator and feel you have received this message in error, please see “Enabling and Disabling Dynamic Content” in IIS Help.

    To access IIS Help

Click Start, and then click Run.
In the Open text box, type inetmgr. IIS Manager appears.
From the Help menu, click Help Topics.
    Click Internet Information Services.

    ——————————————————————————————————–

I contacted my hosting provider, GoDaddy, and they could not resolve the error.

I have tried clearing my cookies and browsing history in both browsers and I have also performed all updates on my computer and restarted it and I still encounter the same errors.

    Any ideas would be helpful!

404 Not Found is a pretty standard error. It means the URL you’re going to does not exist, so it seems unlikely that it would be the case on only one computer.

Most often when i see this it’s just an incorrect bookmark. Try logging in on your Mac at either https://cpmnw.com/wp-admin/ or https://cpmnw.com/wp-login.php

You might also check your DNS settings in either your Mac or your Wireless (or ethernet) Router if you use one – both your Mac and your Router have a place to indicate the DNS server used…..and if it’s set differently than your other computers this could explain your problem.

On your Mac, go to System Preferences > Network, select the network adapter that’s active, click on the Advanced button, then on the tab labeled DNS – the data here generally defaults to whatever it gets from your router, but you can add DNS here as well – I like to use OpenDNS as it’s highly reliable.

On your router, the instructions would be router-specific, but shouldn’t be hard to find if you google it – often routers will just get their DNS settings from your ISP, but again, you can manually enter DNS there as well.
