This question is pretty specific but I figured it wouldn’t hurt to ask.

I’m using the wordpress plugins “Types” and “CRED” to create a custom post type called “Expert Question”

I have Experts registered on my WordPress site for different categories like photography, voice coach, etc.

Users can fill out a form on the front-end to create a question in any category. I would then like to automatically notify the experts in that category (via email) that a new expert question in their category has been posted…with a link to the post.

The CRED plugin provides the ability to send a notification to an email or user but it will either only notify one user or one email. There’s no ability to send it to a group of users.

I tried using the Subscribe2 plugin to subscribe the users to the specific categories but it doesn’t work properly with posts created on the front end.

Would any of you wordpress experts have any suggestions as to how I could automatically send a notification to a group of users when a post is created in a specific category?

Let me know if I can explain further. Thanks!

In case anyone was wondering, I’ve resolved this issue and now have the function using the Subscribe2 function.

My issue was that the category wasn’t registering right away. So, instead of having the front-end post publish immediately, I saved it as a draft first. Then has a second page with an “approve” button where users could review their post and approve it. Once they approved it, the post published and the category registered correctly triggering the Subscribe2 plugin to notify users.
