Load Dev WP Site With Overwriting Live Blog

  • I have a development site that is just about finished that I need to move from the test server to the live server.

    However, the live server has a blog that has been updated overtime with both posts & comments, that has newer posts then the development site does. Since the development site was started a few months ago.

    What is the best way to launch the new site, but to keep the live blog intact?

    I found some very old posts on this & does not seem that the steps match up & could not find anything more recent.

    Anyone seen an article online regarding this?

    Essentially I want to make the dev site the live site, either by overwriting the current live wordpress site or by redirecting it in a new folder using .htaccess.

    Only catch is that the dev site has the blog & comments only up to a few months ago. The live site has newer blog posts & new comments. So need to make sure it all syncs up before I can move anything.
