• Hello Yoast,

firstly, I am a big fan of your plugins – thanks for all these awesome tools ??

I did the update for the analytics plugin today (5.2.7 -> 5.2.8) on my site running WP Multisite in the latest version. The analytics plugin seams to break the admin bar: when I go the website/frontend, the admin bar on the top is not shown anymore. Disabling the plugin network wide resolves the problem and re-enabling it let the problem appear again. So, I currently went back to 5.2.7. Please check, if there is an error in the analytics plugin or if (possible) this may be a combination of plugins. Of course, I can send you my plugins list if you wish, but I prefer to not publish my plugin list here publicely.

    Thanks ??

  • The same problem for me. The admin bar dissapear in a WP multisite

Your analytics plugin updates seem to get launched completely untested. I have problems with almost every update you launch. Do you have any kind of testing?

    Currently getting:

Fatal error: Cannot call overloaded function for non-object in /home/xxxxxx/public_html/wp-content/plugins/google-analytics-for-wordpress/frontend/abstract-class-tracking.php on line 286

Not impressed with the quality of releases to be honest but I suppose because it′s free I have to expect poor quality.

    Hi All,

On applying the update on our multisite this morning, our Apache server guys found a number of files and directories with questionable permissions that were flagged using our monitoring system. Once I reverted back, the problems were fixed.

Same here after upgrading to 5.2.8. Debug gives following notices:
Notice: Use of undefined constant AUTH_COOKIE – assumed ‘AUTH_COOKIE’ in /wp-includes/pluggable.php on line 788 Notice: Use of undefined constant LOGGED_IN_COOKIE – assumed ‘LOGGED_IN_COOKIE’ in wp-includes/user.php on line 242

    Same issue here.

Same issue here, admin bar is disappeared after latest update.
    WP Multisite.

I can confirm the same problem using WordPress Multisite 4.1, network enabling the plugin (v5.2.8).

It’s a fresh install using twentyfifteen theme and just the following plugins:

    I akismet 3.0.4
    N cookie-law-info 1.2.1
    N google-analytics-for-wordpress 5.2.8
    N multisite-enhancements 1.0.7
    N multisite-plugin-manager 3.1.4
    I multisite-user-management 1.1
    N simple-share-buttons-adder 5.5
    N wordpress-mu-domain-mapping 0.5.5.1
    N wordpress-seo 1.7.1

    Legend: I = Inactive, N = Network Active

same problem. i thought my wordpress install got hosed. some QA would be nice before releasing…

Please do not take it on the developer, it is very difficult to test all possible use cases. This is open source software we are talking about so we, the community, are responsible for reporting problems and help fixing them.

Same as Brainstorm IT re: debug notices and same as synapser & zarmath re: multisite. Also noticed that admin visits are being reported in live analytics as any other visits even though the plugin is set to ignore them.

I will characterize this a bit differently than “takes out wpadminbar” because it also does not let WordPress show me edit links for posts, shows me the “logged out” comment form, in other words, there’s no sign that admin user is visiting site while logged in.

We also ran into this issue. This 5.2.8 update also breaks LDAP authentication when using the wpDirAuth plugin on multisite.

I was experiencing this issue too, but activating the plugin on the main blog (ID=1 in the multisite network) and NOT network wide fixed it.

I’m also experiencing the same issue. I first realized there was an issue when I couldn’t preview a blog post I wrote. The I noticed that when viewing pages other than the dashboard, the admin bar wasn’t showing up (it was like I wasn’t logged in).

I couldn’t figure out what the reason was. I ended up network deactivating all of my plugins and it started working again. I then networked activated the all again and selectively turned off plugins. When I deactivated off Google Analytics by Yoast, the issue was resolved (all other plugins are network activated).

Looking forward to the issue being resolved so I can start using this plugin again.

I will go on record and say we are having the same problem. Love the plugin, hope this helps

Same problem with same error as Brainstorm IT, I network deactivated and activated on each install separately and now it’s working.
