Hi, thanks for the great plugin, but I’m unhappy with the following behaviour:
    – Why is it necessary to activate the star rating by clicking on the no entry sign between the question and the stars? Other star rating systems immediately start by moving the mouse pointer over the grey stars.
    – The way of activating the form seems to be even more surprising for users, as the mouse pointer does not convert to the finger (indicating a link), but converts to the text marking symbol.

    Kind regards,
    Florian

    Hi Florian,

Thanks for your feedback on the usability of the rating form.

I’ll look at making the default value optional, and therefore as soon as the user hovers over the stars the color will change.

Your second point will be fixed in the next version of the plugin. Thanks for making me look into this! I simply need to add the following CSS to the star rating icons which creates the mouse pointer on hover:
    cursor: pointer

    Thanks,
    Daniel

    Hi Daniel,

Let me echo Florian’s request since it is simply not intuitive for the user to have to first click the no entry sign.

Does the Pro version of the plugin already include the option to have all rating stars empty to start, so the user can hover over and select their rating?

    Hi Steve and Florian,

There’s a new version available now (free and Pro) which defaults the star ratings to empty so the on hover works straight away without needing to click on the minus sign. This makes star ratings more interactive and improves usability. Thanks for your feedback!

All I get is a submit rating button.
Once clicked it tells me I have rated 0/5 without it having given me any form of option. Same thing with the shortcode.

I was looking at the pro versions but needed to check it out first.
Seems to me if you cant actually Rate Anything! then the whole purpose of the plugin is redundant.
    So I rate this 0/5

Hoping its fixed cos I would like to try it again

    Hi derrickmg,

Have you added any rating items?

    Thanks,
    Daniel

You are right, I misunderstood how your plugin worked.
I thought if you placed it in a post or page people could rate that post. I wasn’t intending to have sub categories (rating items). I will have to rethink my strategy.
    Thanks
