How to exclude categories when using sitemap_posts?

I see that for sitemap_pages there is an option to exclude pages that are within specific categories using the exclude_tree property. Is there any ways to do this for sitemap_posts? I am trying to create a sitemap for posts, but only want to include posts that share a specific parent category. Thanks!
