How to use bare URL for home page

I would like to use my bare domain as my home page.

I have a static page set up, and page-title permalinks.

So when I go to: https://mydomain.com

It redirects to: https://mydomain.com/my-home-page/

This works fine, but isn’t ideal. I would like the bare url:
https://mydomain.com/
To simply display my static home page without showing the permalink in the URL at all.

I know its possible, as I have seen sites doing it. But I’m not coming up with the right search terms to find the answer.
