    Hello,

I am optimizing images via eww. Problem is by images deletion from media.

Sometimes happen that I upload image, then I realize that the image is bad so i re-modify it and upload it again – using same name.

Before that, I delete the previous uploaded image.

However, not all image sizes of the main image are deleted.

This is not cache issue, i checked it in uploads folder.

How can I get rid of this issue? thank you.

That is not normal behavior for WordPress, and it also has very little to do with EWWW unless you are referring to webp derivatives only. EWWW does all optimizations in-place, so it doesn’t create new images (with the exception of webp as I mentioned).

Perhaps another plugin is creating additional derivatives of those images that are not being tracked in the database? Something like a Retina (@2x) plugin perhaps…

I know what he’s talking about and it just happened to me, HUGE problem. He used WP Media Cleaner as I did to try and remove all but the original images. That plugin uses the database to find unused images. EWWW has created entries that refer to these images, so now they appear to be used and none of the normal processes to detect unused images will work. I wish I had never run EWWW or that I could somehow remove all the data that it wrote to my WP tables. What a mess this has made.
