• Hello,

I am not sure my store pages are set up correctly.. I deleted all the woocommerce pages: cart, checkout and account, etc, and reinstalled them through woocommerce>system status> tools.
The problem is when I click on the add to cart it takes me to the “checkout page”. I would think It should send me to the cart?
I am using the storefront theme with woocommerce and the demo shop looks completely different than mine..

Could someone please tell me what I need to do to get this to work correctly?
    My site is: hemingwayscatboutique.com

    Thanks!

  • My install sends me to the cart page.

Your theme is version 1.1.1 but the current version is 1.2.1, so consider updating. Take a backup first.

Did you check that the pages are set correctly at Admin page > WooCommerce > Settings > Checkout tab: Checkout Pages. The settings in the 3 drop-downs should match the names of the relevant pages in the pages list.

Is Admin page > WooCommerce > Settings > Products tab: Add to basket “Redirect to the basket page after successful addition” checked?

Is Admin page > WooCommerce > Settings > Products tab: Add to basket “Enable AJAX add to basket buttons on archives” checked?

The demo shop has a cart widget in the sidebar, and other sidebar widgets, and this makes it look different.

thanks, I did all of the things you suggested and it seems to work ok, as long as I don’t try it while logged in.
Maybe I am confused but does the add to cart send the customer to the checkout page first and than the cart? Mine does.. It looks weird to me.. perhaps this is the norm.

Do you happen to know if there is a way to have items added to the cart without the customer leaving the product page? I know that some ecommerce sites have this.. Maybe a plugin for this?

thanks so much for the help!

The default sequence is: product page > cart > checkout.

Admin page > WooCommerce > Settings > Products tab: Add to basket “Redirect to the basket page after successful addition” = not checked.

Admin page > WooCommerce > Settings > Products tab: Add to basket “Enable AJAX add to basket buttons on archives” – not checked – is good as well I think because the page doesn’t refresh.

it seems to be working now after I disabled one of my plugins… YAY!
Now my last question for the day is.. how do I add a continue shopping button on the banner under the view cart button ( the banner that says your item has been added successfully to your cart?).

I will try not to overwhelm you with any other questions today.. Just trying to get this site up and running without tearing out all of my hair:)

thanks so much for all the help!!

It would be necessary to enhance the add-to-cart Ajax JavaScript which would be a big job for what it is. There would be an on-going commitment to keep the edited JavaScript updated in sync with WooCommerce updates.

Thanks! I discovered an awesome plugin that is a pop up shopping cart and it includes the continue shopping button.. so all is good now.. Just trying to get my paypal button straight and add shipping rates.. ugh!
