Can get listings to work

I just downloaded the free version to try it out before I buy the pro version. I am not interested in placing listings in the sidebar, but in the center of the page. Basically I creating a directory and placing a shortcode in each page for that city. When I place the shortcode, nothing comes up and the shortcode just shows up
