my brother was updating WP to 4.0.1 and the next thing you know, the whole domain was inaccessible except through ftp. So, I can’t get to the front end of the Updraft to restore the site. Which brings me to point #2… is there a default location of the backup? I ran the backup without going through the “settings” and it RAN, so I can’t find the only copy of the backup that may… or may not exist depending on your default location of the backup file.
    Please help.
    Jim

    Hi Jim,

Backups are in wp-content/updraft unless the settings are changed.

The database backup is compatible with phpMyAdmin or other SQL management tools, so, if you can’t get into WP, then you can restore through your web hosting company’s control panel.

    Best wishes,
    David

You weren’t far off. We had to uninstall WP and reinstall WP and Updraft, then after a little tinkering, I got it to restore. Thank GOD, I ran it right after I got it. Thanks VERY much, it worked GREAT by the way!!

You’re welcome! Glad you got your site back.

If you’re in the market for a paid plugin, then the Premium version will take a backup automatically before a WordPress uprgade – https://updraftplus.com/shop/updraftplus-premium/

    Best wishes,
    David
