http or www

This is more of a DNS thing but I will try to example this in simple terms.

To start off, it is your personal preference if you want your website to use www. or not. What ever you choose, make sure you stick with that format. It is arguable that having both www. and non www. work both ways is bad for SEO.

By default most all DNS records are setup in a way where https://www.example.com points to the same place where https://example.com does. If you enter https://www.example.com in the back of WordPress then WordPress will use that URL in redirecting, etc..

Issues arise most of the time when either of the following happen:

– DNS does not have www. setup and www. is setup in WordPress (or visa versa)
– DNS/htaccess file redirect non www to www but WordPress siteurl is set to non www (or visa vera).

good explanation, i’ll just stick to the default https://example.co.uk, as like you said, if someone types in https://www.example.co.uk, it goes to https://example.co.uk anyway. thanks for your time… ??
