Unable to locate WordPress Content directory (wp-content).

I found a file in the /wordpress directory that was put there, I assume, by my hosting company. I deleted the file and tried an update again and got this error:

Download failed. Failed to write request to temporary file.

hmmm. Tried setting permissions everywhere, back to cannot locate wp-content.

How do you have the WordPress and Site URLs configured in your settings?

Was the site working before or is this a new install?

By the way, deleting files you assume came from somewhere is probably not a good thing to do. Do you remember the name of the file you deleted?

It would also be very helpful to provide the URL of your site.

There is, by the way, an upgrade directory in wp-content and the permissions are set to 777

OK, still trying different things. Tried to upload the zip file for the plugin manually and received an Internal Server Error. No other specifics.

I have the Permalink site URLs set to Default. I assume that is what you mean?

Site has been working fine since May.

The file was named ftpquota.txt

WordPress and Site URLs are both https://franciscanfamilyapostolate.org/wordpress

OK, so it occurred to me the the site url should be just https://franciscanfamilyapostolate.org. Changed that in the general settings and – wa la – updates work great!
