• Dear all,

I am experiencing problems with the media upload since I have upgraded from WordPress 3.9.2 to 4.0.1 (no matter whether I use the WordPress uploader or the browser uploader).

    1. When uploading a file to the media library at 100% it shows a HTTP Error (without any further explanation). However, it does upload the file, but together with 300 defect copies. The one file that works is shown without a preview pic. So every time I upload a file I have to delete all the defect copies and leave the one without the preview. The working file is usable in posts and pages. However, it does not work with my papergrid plugin that I use to show the team members.

    2. The same happens when I change the description or name of an existing file. I get 300 defect copies and the original file without preview pic.

    3. I run the website in two languages using WPML. Normally, when uploading a file to the media library it is usable for posts, projects and pages in both languages. Since I have had the problem I have to upload the same file twice, once for german and once for croatian (by changing the language in the WordPress dashboard). If I do not procede as described, I can only choose from the files I have uploaded in the respective language.

    4. PDFs do not work at all. I only get about 300 defect files when uploading a PDF; none of them works.

I would be very grateful if you could help me or give me a hint what to look for. I have searched numerous posts but nothing worked so far.

    Kind regards,

    Mato

  • Mato,

Do you have access to your server error logs? That would be ver helpful in us help you.

    Thanks

    Hello everyone!

I had the same problem and tried all the fixes with .htaccess, php.ini, and php5.ini
None worked along with a few other problems with creating sub-domains.

Got this problem solved after 3 days.
I was on a shared hosting account and these fixes would work with BlueHost.(I adjusted my max_input_vars) When I changed to BlueHost VPS hosting, these same problems came up in this post.

Now on “BlueHost VPS hosting,” it doesn’t run the apache server software on it as their shared hosting service.
When I tried these fixes and used the infor.php file trick, it lied to me.
I talked to VPS tech support and they changed those upload limits for me.
Now my media upload “popup window” went from 10MB to 50MB limit.
All is good now and I will grow back my gray hairs.

P.S. I did check my server log from my cPanel and it lied to me also.
Things are different and it all depends on the server software and version that your hosting service is using. BEST to check with them on this type of problems. You will sleep better afterwards.

    Have a good day!!

Hi! Thank you for your replies to my problem. I will try to get the server error logs and and contact the hosting support as well. I will keep you informed. Thanks again and have a nice day ??

I am getting the http error for some files while uploading on my site https://pixelarge.com I was trying to upload some 10 Photographs in all jpeg format. 7 of them uploaded while 3 failed.
I tried to disable the ewwww plugin for image optimization, yet no luck so far ??
    I am using wordpress 4.0.1
    Please Help

I can only report same problem. Using GoDaddy as host. Working on a Mac Pro (new to it). I don’t know if this helps the experts, but I got the following message at the bottom of the page standing in Media on the Dashboard:

Fatal error: Maximum execution time of 30 seconds exceeded in /home/content/p3pnexwpnas03_data03/74/2336374/html/wp-includes/class-wp-image-editor-imagick.php on line 344

Further info. I have just started so only using 3 plugins which I have deactivated to see if it helps. It did not.
