I think I duplicated myself!

  • I am importing a (very small and new) Movable Type blog. My posts were imported as “Mags” (my MT username) but set up as a separate username. I changed the admin user so that admin will post as Mags, which is the way I want it. Is there a way to transfer those old posts over to the admin user? Or should I reimport?

  • Delete the current Mags user who has all the MT entries ?? You can do this by repeatedly lowering the level, till the user is no more. Now the users posts are also deleted by this.
    Once this is complete, re-import, and this time assign Mags to admin from the dropdown menu to select the user to ascribe posts too.
    A user has a nickname, a username, a firstname, a lastname and any of these names can be displayed on the blog when a particular author has to be referred to. The username, though is unique. That’s why you had the problem.
