The last few months, I’ve had problems getting the plugin to create a new recipe. It sometimes takes 2 or 3 tries, with my losing everything I typed in because I get a spinning circle that simply won’t stop, and I have to refresh the page. In the past, I was always able to get it to work on the 2nd or 3rd try.

I’ve tried at least 6 times since last night to create a recipe and it won’t let me. I then went to the Kitchenbug site and created the recipe there, thinking it would show up in my drop down list and I could simply select it, but the site and plugin don’t seem to be connected.

Can you get this fixed or do I need to delete your plugin and start over? And if I do, is there a way to export the recipes so I can import them into a new plugin?

    Hi Karen,

We’ll check out the problem and get back to you ASAP. The plugin recipes and kitchenbug.com recipes are not linked nor do they share the same storage. There are several reasons for this with the main one being that kitchenbug.com is a site for collecting and sharing recipes and not a recipe aggregator. You can of course choose to collect the recipes to your recipe box and thereby let others users find your website through the online search, explore or feed views.

There is a backup option in the Kitchenbug plugin admin page which exports the recipes to XML so no worries there.

Wow. I’m impressed. I’ve never had this kind of a quick response from a plugin creator. I’ll go try now.

Also, one other question. When I first chose this plugin I was excited about the idea to be able to put more than one recipe into a single post. For example, I like the idea of posting a recipe that used stock, and then below the recipe sharing my stock recipe. However, I tried it once and it wouldn’t work, so I never tried again. Any suggestions to what I was doing wrong?

One more question too…is there any way to get your plugin to turn my Pinterest recipes into rich pins?

I know that it’s a feature of many of the recipe plugins but my recipes aren’t rich pins when I share them.

    Hi Karen,

You were doing nothing wrong ??

The plugin does not support multiple recipes on the same page since Google SEO is not supported for more than one recipe. One of the benefits the plugin provides is SEO (via microdata tags) for Google. Since Google only reads the first recipe from a page, your viewers will not be able to locate the others.

Regarding Pinterest, this is surprising. I’ll have this checked out tomorrow and get back to you.

    Thanks Gilad.

The plugin worked perfect this time.

You can see the recipe I just posted and the Pinterest pin of it here:

I thought I had rich pins at one point. Maybe there is something I need to do on my site. I’m not sure.

    Hi Karen,

    Glad to hear!

I think that Pinterest doesn’t do it automatically. We’re trying it now on our test site and I believe that after you do the procedure once it should work for the rest of the site. Anyway, try the following:

    1) Go to https://developers.pinterest.com/rich_pins/validator/
    2) Insert the recipe URL (https://futureexpat.com/2014/12/hanukkah-latkes-potato-pancakes-recipe/) and click on validate
    3) After it’s done, click on ‘Apply now’ and choose ‘HTML Tags’.
    4) Wait until Pinterest approves your request…

Please let me know if this helped.

    Kind Regards,

    Gilad
