"Received HTTP code 403 from proxy after CONNECT"

I had what sounds like the same issue … a 403 error in the widget saying the calendar was not set to public … but after rechecking at Google, the calendar was set to public. I had to take the widget offline. Today, I upgraded to the latest gcalendar version and tried the widget again, and now it works. ??

I updated to the latest version today and here’s the error I get now:
Received HTTP code 403 from proxy after CONNECT Please ensure your calendar ID is correct.

I am wondering if the problem comes from the fact that calendar is hosted on a Google apps for business account? This has never caused a problem before in the pas 6 months I have used this plugin, but maybe it does now? Just mentioning it in case it matters.

I am not seeing the error on your site. I tried using your calendar ID in my own test and it seems to be working fine for me. I see that the events are not showing up in your widget though so maybe there are some other settings limiting what is being shown.

Let me know if you are still getting error though.

Could you share your feed settings?

If you try putting shortcode in a page, instead of relying on the widget, do things go any better?

The API request is returning the events correctly so it’s not an issue with that. I am thinking it might be a host issue with how much data is trying to be retrieved.

What are your options for Feed Start time and Feed End time? What happens if you make that a little less, say 1 month back and 3 months forward or something similar?

Nick – just tried changing those settings to what you mentioned, still not working.

I tried creating a feed with your calendar ID, and displaying it in a test page. This worked fine.

When I visit your site I see a grid calendar in the sidebar. I don’t see the 403 error; on the other hand, I don’t see your events either.

Could you share your feed settings and formatting code here?

May I suggest that you try both grid and list, with both the Event Builder and the Simple Display Options? It would be good to know if you’re able to display your calendar in some shape or form.

Do you have the option “Expand recurring events” checked?

Also, are you using the event builder codes or simple display options? If the event builder, then what is the codes for it?

I tried displaying the calendar as a list and it said I didn’t have any events on it – it definitely does, as you can see on the direct calendar URL: https://www.google.com/calendar/embed?src=husky.neu.edu_a19mv2tlia167m2dsavcrad53g%40group.calendar.google.com&ctz=America/New_York

I did a brand-new test of your calendar ID, with settings all the same as yours, and again, my test came out fine. I have two ideas to offer:
– make the cache duration very small, so you don’t have to manually empty the cache each time you fiddle with something.
– change to a simple theme temporarily and see if that helps. I’m using twentytwelve.
